Sleeping at Scarperia, in the Mugello
There are four rooms and no two are alike. Each was furnished on its own terms and each keeps something of the old house, while having what you actually need: private bathroom with shower, air conditioning, and nothing missing.
The villa stands in its own quiet grounds, which is the point for anyone who wants the Mugello countryside without being cut off: the centre of Scarperia is a short walk, and the Palagio corner of the Mugello circuit is 200 metres away, with the main entrance 2 km further on. There is plenty of private parking, which matters if you have come by car or on a bike and mean to use it.
Scarperia is one of Italy’s officially listed “most beautiful villages”. In the old centre you can see the fourteenth-century Palazzo dei Vicari, the church of Saints Jacopo and Filippo, the Oratory of the Madonna di Piazza, and the corner tower with stretches of the old walls still standing. It is also the town of knives: four historic knife-makers still keep workshops in the centre. A short drive away are the Barberino Design Outlet, the Mugello International Circuit and the golf course.
Every room can be taken as a single, from €80 a night. One thing worth saying plainly: ours is a double room for single use, so a guest on their own gets a proper double bed, not a camp bed pushed into a corner.

Bright and roomy, this one sleeps four: a double and two singles. Windows on two corners look out over the garden and the drive, which makes it the easy choice for a family with things to spread out.
The Pink Room sleeps up to three, with a double and a single. Eighteenth-century furniture, a generous bathroom and a view over the main entrance: the one guests tend to ask for by name.
The Blue Room looks straight onto the giardino all’italiana. It is the quietest of the four and suits a couple, or one person who would rather wake up looking at the hedges.
A light room for two or three, with a double and a single. Traditional furniture, plenty of daylight, and a window onto the fountain in the grounds.

13.00–16.00 and 18.00–22.30.

Breakfast is not included. If you would like it, it is €5 per person at a café a short walk away, using the voucher we leave in your room.
